I have spoken many times on how much I love the state of Florida. It’s a gorgeous state known for stifling humidity and heat, animals and insects hell bent on maiming and poisoning, and of course the truly unique mix of people that live there. As Mark mentions, every time there’s a weird story…folks are just praying it isn’t in Florida.
On this episode, I speak with Mark Muncy. He is the author of the soon to be released book, ‘Eerie Florida.’ This is book one of a series that he and his fiance’ and illustrator, Kari Schultz have been researching and driving thousands of miles all over their home state for. They’ve included Gnomes, sea creatures, witches, haunted dolls, a chair built by the Devil himself, massacres, mermaids and much more! I have chosen a few for this episode that I have never heard before….and a few of my favorites, that I never tire of.
A special thanks to Mark and the very talented, Kari for allowing me to debut her rendition of the “Gnome of Bok Tower” on this episode of iTF! Book one releases, September 4th.

Great episode!
Where is episode 2? Get a follow-up episode with Mark, please! This was terrific stuff, very interesting and very varied. I enjoyed this episode a lot. One disappointment: I was hoping to see a photo of the shrunken head of the Cinder Lady – that would have been as fascinating as the entire story.
Recording Edition 2 on Monday. Not sure of exact air date, but will be soon! Have to time things with publishing dates, etc.
The photos of the head are pretty gruesome. Even the one with just the leg is pretty spooky. The St. Petersburg Museum of History has them in their archives and can send them to you for a modest fee. Some of the publicly released photos from the investigation are available online.
